Modi says No to Red Ink!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to part away with one of the old rule introduced by the NDA government itself. The 14 year old rule gave the senior officers the liberty to use an ink different from the junior bureaucrats.

But Modi’s government recently amended the Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedure (CSMOP) and sent a circular to all the ministries not to use the red ink or green ink for making notes. Instead the government also asked the senior bureaucrats to use the same blue/black inks for notes. This step the government says will bring parity to notes made by all levels of bureaucracy on the files.

However Experts say notes written in red or green ink will have a significant effect on the junior bureacracy and also the notes written in green or red would not fade away any faster than those written in black or blue.
