Credit More Important Than Special Status

Special Status issue picked up the steam in Parliament. TDP MPs have protested at Gandhi Statue in Parliament Premises and the MPs of TDP and YSR Congress raised slogans in Lok Sabha creating a ruckus in the house. They stormed into the Speaker’s well couple of times but did not go to the extent of stalling the proceedings.

While this is happening in Parliament, Sakshi TV is busy laying stake on the Special Status Credit. The News Channel went on airing Flash News that YSR Congress MPs are protesting in Parliament and there is no news of TDP MPs protests even though the visuals are showing them to be protesting.

Later YSR Congress Nellore MP Mekapati alleged that their party MPs have led the agitation in the Parliament and TDP MPs only followed them seeing them go to the Speaker’s well. It is evident that YSR Congress is more focused on creating an impression to the people that their party is the only party which is striving for the Special Status.

Political observers, however, do not feel this as surprising. “How do we expect Jagan will get Special Status which will push the development and project Chandrababu as a hero? Jagan wants AP to suffer and then take it as a chance to project Chandrababu as a Zero for 2019. Except for TDP, no other party feels Special Status as important right now”, they say. “Unless or until, BJP sees a big political opportunity in Andhra Pradesh, there is no point why Modi will relent and grant the Special Status which only create more such demands to the Center. So more or less, Special Status is a gone case for AP unless something drastic or unexpected happens,” they add.
