#MummyReturns: Jayalalitha proves exit polls wrong

When all the pollsters spelt doom for Jayalalithaa led AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, Amma cruised to more than comfortable victory in the election. It looks like a touch and go election at the start but ended up as a comfortable one for AIADMK. In the process she also broke the long time tradition of Tamil people giving no chance to a party back to back.

Several populist schemes undertaken by Jayalalithaa in her previous tenure, seem to have come to her rescue. However the new schemes she announced in her recent manifesto will run in to several thousands of Crores and will take heavy toll on the state exchequer. Some of them include Free mobiles, Free Laptops, Free Gold for marriages, Women to get 50 per cent subsidy to buy scooty, Loan Waiver etc.

This result may also be a death blow to DMK and over ambitious ADMK led by Vijayakanth. Further this result may have an effect on National politics as well as Jayalalithaa will be a potential Prime Minister Candidate for the 2019 elections, if the situations favour in Delhi.
