Muslim Leaders Revolt Against Congress, Azharuddin Resigns

Former Indian Cricket Captain and Congress MP, Mohammed Azharuddin has announced resigning to Congress alleging that the party has neglected Muslims in the tickets distribution in Telangana Elections. He announced that Rahul Gandhi is ignoring Muslims and insulting Muslim sentiments.

He said I feel alienated as if Muslims are hated in Congress. Former Minorities Commission chairperson Abid Rasool Khan and National Co-ordinator of AICC Minority Department Khaleeq Rahman have also resigned to Congress alleging that the party is controlled by ‘Sangh’ man wearing Khaki.

Muslims form a major chunk in the population of Telangana and are capable of influencing results in at least 30 seats in the state including Old City, the Bastion of MIM. It has to be seen if this crisis will upset the Muslim community and if that impacts the chances of Mahakutami in the coming elections.
