Mysterious missing of Land records in TS!

Telangana government had harboured all its hopes on the sale of prime government land as revenue generating resource. But the officials have found that the lakhs of land records are missing in the state. These records are absolutely necessary for the state to fight back for the tens of thousands of acres of expensive government land fallen victim to encroachers.

Government is assuming that at least 20000 acres of government land is enroached or in legal wrangles in just Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy. But government is not able to put up its case properly with the absence of land records.

The missing documents include village maps, Field Measurement Books (FMB) or Tippons and Sethwars, which are considered the original, parent records as they provide classification of the land, extent and pattadar names. Officials suspect these records have been either stolen or destroyed during the separate state agitation. Government is seeking Center’s help in clearing this mess.
