And now the state government is planning one more nuclear project with the assistance of Russia. At present, there are just three states in the country — Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu — that have two or more nuclear projects.

For the most of the last decade, the then Congress governments in Andhra Pradesh focused on Gas based power projects for the future power needs. But most of them were lying idle with out generation due to the shortage of gas allocations. Naidu now recognizes nuclear power projects as the only solution to the ever increasing power demand.
