Naidu says no going back on Vijayawada Metro!

Despite the Central government refusing funding for the proposed Vijayawada Metro Rail Project, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is still keen on going with the project. Metro Adviser Sreedharan met the Chief Minister today and discussed about the project.

On this occasion, Naidu mentioned that there is no funds issue for the project and it will get funding from JICA of Japan. The state government is also taking up with the center to reconsider the decision about funding the project.

Naidu asked Sreedharan to give monthly progress reports of the project. He reiterated that the project has to be completed by 2018. The then Union government had granted Metro projects to Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam during the state bifurcation and with the new government, one more promise had gone to dogs
