Naidu to convince center on Vijayawada metro

Center’s rejection of the proposal of developing Metro Rail Project had come as a big shock to the state government. The Union Urban development ministry rejected funding of the 6823 Crore project as it is a norm to grant such project only to a city of 20 lakh population.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had asked the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ministry to prepare a report and present the project as a necessity for the capital region rather than Vijayawada city.

Naidu will take up the issue with center stressing on the need of this project since the population in the region will surge after the shifting of administration to the state and after the completion of the capital construction. Given that Union Urban development ministry is headed by our Venkaiah Naidu, the state government is positive about the reconsideration.
