Naidu’s splurges 100 Crore on tablets

Naidu’s Paperless dreams is hurting the finances of Cash strapped Andhra Pradesh. After introducing paper-less cabinet meetings, Naidu now decided to arm his senior officials with tablets to reduce the usage of paper. However this is going to be very costly for the cash strapped state as the government is planning to procure One Lakh tablets at the cost of 100 Crore.

It is learnt that the state government has already placed an order for 32,000 tabs to be given to the officials of the animal husbandry, marketing, agriculture, revenue, excise, commercial taxes, forest, energy and irrigation departments.

All these tablets will be equipped with internet connection. Even though the purchase will cost a bomb, the government feels that the governance will improve as the officials can receive updates from the head of the department every day. They say the initiative is aimed at quickening the grievance redressal and provide a transparent administration
