Lokesh’s Coronation Delayed Again, But For How Long?

It has been less than two years since the Chandrababu Naidu Government came to power in Andhra Pradesh. After the first six months rumours started that Nara Lokesh would become Chief Minister sooner or later. These talks have grown louder recently.

There are also claims that Pawan Kalyan has agreed to this plan. The YSR Congress Ecosystem tried to use these rumours to provoke Pawan Kalyan fans and the Kapu Community. This made the issue more sensitive in political circles.

Nara Lokesh now seems to have responded to these rumours in an indirect way. He attended the Parliament Committee workshop inauguration where people raised slogans praising his leadership. His reaction gave a clear political signal.

When the crowd shouted Nara Lokesh Nyayaktvam Vardhilali he quickly stepped in. Lokesh said there is only one leadership and it belongs to Chandrababu Naidu. He even joked that such slogans could cost him his job.

This suggests that Lokesh’s elevation may take more time. Passing leadership to the next generation is important for the Telugu Desam Party. It is a key step for keeping the party strong and stable in the long run.

We have seen how KCR failed to manage a smooth transition when he had full control. Now it has become a major problem. Leadership change is always easier when a party is in power than in opposition.

The issue is also complex because the alliance with Janasena is crucial for Chandrababu Naidu. Pawan Kalyan followers and the Kapu Community want to see him as Chief Minister one day. They accept Naidu now but not Lokesh.

This is likely one reason why the coronation is being delayed. Still the bigger question is how long it can be pushed forward. The answer will shape the future of the Telugu Desam Party and its alliance.
