Only today, it was announced that inter first year students will not be giving their annual examination. Instead, they will have internal assessments to reduce the burden on them.

Already mid-day meals have been introduced for intermediate students, just a few days back. He reminded that nothing was done for inter students in the past 10 years.

At the school level, Lokesh has directed officials to come up with a plan in alignment with ‘AP Model Education’. To reduce the burden of school bags, at the primary level, all subjects must be in one book, he said. For higher classes, few subjects must be clubbed into books, he directed.

Lokesh also added that OMR sheets must be replaced by digital assessment which also saves state exchequer.

Another major relief for students and their parents was regarding the names and colours on school bags. Nara Lokesh made it clear that bags and books should be politically neutral.

The books and any other material must have names of great leaders or achievers, the minister issued orders.

He said responses need to be taken from parents and academicians before coming up with educational policies. The university VCs and advisory boards must be appointed by March, he told officials.
