AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh said many mocked the government when it offered Fortune 500 companies free land or land for 99 paise. Critics questioned whether companies would come even with free land, he said, speaking at the Mansas-GMR aviation educity inauguration.
Lokesh said companies like Cognizant and TCS have now come to Vizag. He stated that the decision to offer land played a key role. The Chandrababu government is grounding major companies in Uttarandhra, with a clear focus on Vizag’s development.
He praised the generosity of Goa Governor Ashok Gajapati Raju’s family for giving 90 percent of the land for the educity free of cost. Lokesh said the government was happy to name the educity Mansas in recognition of this contribution.
Lokesh recalled similar criticism during the Indian School of Business ISB setup. People laughed then too, he said. Chandrababu stood firm, and ISB is now among the top institutions. He added that educity will earn similar recognition in the future.
He said each subject will have a dedicated university focused on skill development. Aviation, drones, engines, and pilot training will be taught at specialised centres. Lokesh said discussions were held with Rammohannaidu on the project structure.
Lokesh said the government follows the one capital concept while ensuring holistic development. A cluster-based approach is being adopted with 23 clusters planned. He said about 20 lakh youth will get jobs and Uttarandhra must be part of this effort.
Using a metaphor, Lokesh said Chandrababu government has GPS and missiles. Assembly Speaker Ayyannapatrudu and Ashok Gajapati Raju are GPS, while he, Aditi Gajapati Raju, and Rammohannaidu are missiles guiding development along with CM Chandrababu.
