Humility and grounded behaviour are almost quintessential for the growth of any politician at a young age. While many politicians get this absolutely wrong and turn out to be adamant and unwelcoming, a few grasp the reality and act in accordance.
The latter is to be observed in the case of Nara Lokesh, who visited Karnataka today to take part in the inauguration ceremony of Sr NTR statue here.
Lokesh was the special guest for this event pertaining to senior NTR, which is understandable, considering his lineage. But what followed later is the topic of discussion here.
Lokesh was provided a special luxurious chair at the event while this stage was being shared by Karnataka politician and Union Minister Kumaraswamy. While the rest of the leaders had ordinary chairs, the organisers had put up a special luxury chair for Lokesh. This is to perhaps comfort, Lokesh who’s a neighbouring leader and is a descendant of NTR.
However, Lokesh reacted very humbly to this special treatment as he subtly refused to sit on the luxurious chair. He was insisted by Kumaraswamy and other Senior leaders on stage to take the luxurious chair that was assembled for him. But Lokesh was adamant about it and got a normal ordinary chair arranged for him.
Being a vibrant young IT minister, the son of AP CM Chandrababu, and the grandson of Sr NTR, it wouldn’t have been too much to expect Lokesh to have actually taken the special treatment. But he refused the same and stood humble which is a critical virtue for a leader of his virtue.
For whatever reason, both Jagan and KTR who are of similar age group as Lokesh face criticism about humility. There’s this strong narrative that presents them that way. But Lokesh appears to be taking conscious measures to move away from the same and stay as grounded as he can.
