Even though NT Rama Rao steered Telugu Desam Party to a massive victory in 1983 elections, it was Chandrababu Naidu who joined the party a year later who worked on the organizational setup of the party. Naidu launched training session for party cadre at Gandipet party office.

He is also the one who started distribution of membership cards, computerization of members’ information, creating directory for the party, starting of affiliated institutions such as Karshak Parishad, Telugu Mahila and SC, ST and BC wings. Impressed with his work, NTR then made him the general secretary of Karshak Parishad and later the coordinator of the party and the general secretary.

Naidu got immense control on the party’s organizational setup by the time he got the reins. Now Naidu’s son, Lokesh is also heading in the same direction. The Nara scion already infused Technology in the party’s membership drive and is now planning to tour Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He will be imparting training to nearly 40,000 active party workers to create a strong technology base for the TDP. He wants to interact personally with the party workers and get a rapport with them before taking up some plum post in the party.
