Nara Lokesh on Raptadu Girl's Recovery
The Class 10 girl seriously injured in the Raptadu school attack in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district is showing steady improvement, Education Minister Nara Lokesh announced on Monday, November 2.
Sharing a health update on X, Lokesh said a team of doctors at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru had confirmed encouraging progress in the girl’s recovery. She is now conscious and has been visited by her mother.
According to Lokesh, doctors are planning to remove ventilator support later on Monday evening if her condition continues to improve. However, the ventilator has not yet been confirmed as removed.
The student was critically injured in an electric saw attack inside a government school at Raptadu on October 31. She was subsequently shifted to Bengaluru for advanced treatment.
A multidisciplinary medical team at Manipal Hospital performed complex orthopaedic and plastic surgeries to treat her injuries. Following the procedures, she was shifted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring.
Lokesh, who visited the hospital on Sunday, had assured the girl’s parents of continued government assistance and medical support throughout her recovery.
The minister welcomed the latest improvement and expressed hope that the student would recover fully. Doctors continue to monitor her condition, with further medical decisions depending on her progress.
update:
Good news on the recovering child in Manipal hospital: The panel of doctors have noted steady progress. She is conscious and has been visited by her mother. As her condition continues to improve, doctors plan to remove ventilator support later this evening. We continue to pray for her steady recovery.
