After the recent AP election results, TDP leader Nara Lokesh has reiterated the party’s intention to take legal action against those who allegedly harassed TDP leaders and supporters under the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy administration. This announcement has created unease among several officials who are perceived to have acted in contravention of established protocols under the YSRCP government.
Reports indicate that numerous IPS officers are now seeking deputation outside Andhra Pradesh, anticipating potential repercussions. These officers are known to have enforced YSRCP directives that allegedly contravened IPS regulations. The fear of retribution under the new NDA coalition government, which includes TDP, is palpable among these officials.
The state government, however, appears poised to reject deputation applications from these officers, ensuring their presence in AP for accountability. The change in administration has particularly unsettled police officers who were involved in registering controversial cases against opposition members during Jagan’s tenure.
The incoming government has signaled that legal actions will be pursued against officers found guilty of misconduct.
Prominent officials facing scrutiny include Sanjay from the CID, Kolli Raghurami Reddy from the SIT, and Nirab Kumar, the Chief Secretary of the AP government. The AP DGP, Harish Kumar Gupta, has been assigned additional responsibilities to manage the transition.
A list of officials who cooperated closely with the previous administration has been compiled, and measures are being put in place to monitor and potentially reassign them.
Specific actions include the cancellation of IPS officer Sanjay’s leave by the General Administration Department (GAD) and the recall of Revenue Intelligence Chief Rajeswara Reddy from deputation. Furthermore, transfers of key officials such as Reppu Mutyalaraju, Poonam Malakondaiah, and Bharat Gupta, who were associated with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), have been halted.
Chief Secretary Nirab Kumar has ordered that these officials remain in Andhra Pradesh until the vote counting process is complete, indicating a thorough review and possible accountability measures are forthcoming.
