Modi and Kejriwal Should Emulate Telangana’s Proactiveness

We have seen several migrant workers across Delhi are coming in 1000s to the Anand Vihar Bus Station of the National Capital trying to get hold of a bus to their native places in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The videos have gone viral on social media and have become a major cause of worry as social distancing and isolation is the key for keeping Coronavirus at bay.

The government administration in Delhi and the Central Government which has control of Police in Delhi has completely failed in that aspect. Telangana is in the forefront of all the states in the country in Coronavirus control measures. The state has put in special measures to rescue the migrant workers.

The State Government had opened 150 Annapurna Meal Centers across the GHMC and food is being served free for the migrant workers. Yesterday they have served 30,000 meals during day time & 7500 meals at 50 centers during the night. Akshaya Patra, the concessionaire of this scheme has scaled up the service to cater to more than one lakh meal per day.

More than four lakh migrant workers in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana are being taken care of by State Government in association with builders and contractors. All essential provisions and sanitation needs are being made available on their site of construction. With these things in place, the migrants do not need to go out of their dwellings in Hyderabad.
