Narendra Modi surpasses the US-White House

India’s new Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the fourth most followed leader in the World on the social networking site,Twitter. Modi currently has about 5 Lakh followers and he has surpassed the United States White House account, @WhiteHouse, which had 4,980,207 followers on Wednesday. Narendra Modi was active participant on Twitter during the days he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He used the platform very effectively during the election campaign and is also active there even after becoming the Prime Minister despite having a separate Twitter account for Prime Minister’s office.

Within weeks of his thumping victory in recently concluded elections, the @NarendraModi account has moved into the top five most followed Twitter accounts of world leaders with close to five million followers. Modi is the second-most followed Asian leader on Twitter. On several occasions, Modi keeps on telling that he is a firm believer in the power of technology and social media to communicate with people across the world.
