Modi’s Name Used as Bait for Cyber Crime

If you get a message on your messenger applications like Whatsapp that Modi has introduced a new free recharge scheme and to tap on the link to avail the free recharge or that Modi has is giving free credit to your bank accounts and to enter the contact details to avail the credit, you are spammed, just go ahead and delete the message.

These messenger applications are being widely used by hackers to loot the users by sending malicious links into the loop and luring the people into their trap. PM Modi who is promoting digital payments and the usage of technology, has been used by the hackers to make people click on such links to get benefited without any charge.

The message with Modi’s picture claiming free recharge or double recharge of the mobiles are being widely shared on WhatsApp recently. Upon clicking these links, the user will be directed to a website where they would be asked to fill in contact details and make a transaction to get double recharge or benefit with which user ends up paying the amount to the hackers or even transferring their data on mobile to them.

Cyber police suggested people, to delete such messages immediately without tapping on the links sent in such messages.
