Green Tribunal Serious About Vishakapatnam Gas Leakage

National Green Tribunal has taken cognizance of the Gas Leakage from LG Polymers Company in Vishakapatnam. The Apex Environment court directed LG Polymers to deposit ₹50 crore for damage caused due to the Styrene gas leak in Visakhapatnam yesterday.

The court has appointed a five-member committee to conduct a detailed investigation into this incident. The next hearing of the court is posted to May 18th. On the other side, the state government also appointed a high-level committee to probe the accident.

The committee was asked to submit its report in One Month time. Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that the inquiry should happen with the experts in concerned fields and the company should be closed immediately.

The Gas Leak has claimed eleven lives so far. Out of 554 people hospitalized so far, 128 were discharged and the rest of them, 426 including 52 children are in KGH and other Private Hospitals.
