NCW: Suo Moto Action Against Journalist

Even as cases are being filed on YSRCP leaders regarding their offensive and abusive comments against Amaravati women, YSRCP has a new problem waiting for them.

The National Commission for Women has expressed its ire over the distasteful comments made against Amaravati women on Sakshi TV. In a suo moto act, the Commission sought a report on the matter from AP DGP in 3 days.

It posted on X – The Commission has taken suo moto cognizance of media reports on alleged derogatory remarks made by journalist VVR Krishnam Raju against Amaravati women during a TV debate.

Referring to Amaravati as a “capital of prostitutes” is an outrageous insult to women farmers. NCW strongly condemns such unacceptable and inciting statements in public discourse.

The Chairperson Smt Vijaya Rahatkar has written a letter to the DGP of Andhra Pradesh directing him a swift and time-bound investigation, and strict action against Mr Raju under relevant laws. A detailed action taken report has been sought from the concerned authorities within 3 days.
