Nellore Native Shot Dead in Pahalgam Incident

In a shocking incident, terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba’s offshoot The Resistance Front shot dead tourists at Baisaran Meadow in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir at 2.30 pm on Tuesday.

In a major attack in years, 26 Indians and two foreign nationals were killed. Many others were injured. Some are said to be critical.

Of the 26 killed, one person was from Telugu states. Madhusudan Somisetty a native of Kavali in Nellore was shot dead in the incident. However, Madhusudan was settled in Bengaluru.

Madhusudan was on a family trip to Pahalgam when he was shot at. He died on spot. Originally from Nellore, Madhusudan relocated to Bengaluru with his family. Family and friends from both cities are morning his death.

An eye witness who lost her father and uncle in the attack said that men were singled out and shot at. The terrorists were wearing army uniforms at the time of the attack, she said. The tourists were taking pictures or riding ponies or eating when they heard gun shots suddenly.

The incident is said to have been masterminded by Saifullah Kasuri of Pakistan’s LeT. US and Russia have condemned the act.

Prime Minisyer Modi cut short his diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia, while Home Minister Amit Shah rushed to Srinagar. Combing operations are on by the army for the terrorists.
