Nellore Police on High Alert Post Pahalgam Attack

In Nellore, a bomb attack happened a few years back. Someone made a blast placing the device in a cooker. Similar incidents happened in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Chittoor. NIA took up the investigation at the time.

Now, the Nellore Police are on alert once again. There are chances of a terrorist attack it is said and the police are trying to find the whereabouts of sleeper cells.

Vehicles are being stopped for checking and those under doubt are being questioned. The police are on high alert following instructions by SP Krishnakant.

Vehicles are being checked for the past two days and special teams have been formed. Based on certain incidents in the past, the police are taking special measures.

In the past, Sheikh Ilyas Ahmad of Bucchipalem was named the most wanted criminal. The NIA placed Rs 2 lakh reward on him. NIA alleged that Sheikh Ahmad trained a lot of youth in arms in Nizamabad and hatched plans for terror acts. He was good at training the youth in killing without any arms, the NIA said.

Some time back, NIA tried to catch Sheikh Ahmad by doing checks in few houses in Bucchipalem. But some local Muslim youth got together and stopped them from checking. Even when the local police came, they refused to allow them.

But some time back, terrorist Sheikh Ilyas Ahmad surrendered to the police. It is known that the cooker blast happened in Nellore, followed by Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Chittoor.

Now the police are involved in checks. People of Nellore are shaken after the death of Madhusudan Rao in Pahalgam. Hence, the Nellore police are carrying out investigations.
