New Innovas disappoint Hyd cops!

Many of the city folks already might have seen the swanky Innovas of Hyderabad Police on the city roads. The Police department was elated after the state government provided them with Innovas. The state had invested a whopping 300 Crore to procure these vehicles.

However the joy of the Police is short lived after they received government’s directive to only use the vehicles for patrolling and not for any other purposes. Earlier Tata Sumos were used as Rakshak vehicles they used to work in several ways right from taking the accused persons to court to patrolling with up to eight policemen during troubles or bandobast.

Now with the instructions to use Innovas only for patrolling and the Tata Sumos withdrawn, the police officials are now hiring auto rickshaws or private vehicles to take the accused to court and prison. The reasons behind the government’s directive are not revealed.
