Nimmagadda: One Man Takes The Bull By its Horns

Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is just another several Retired IAS officers in the country. He was appointed by Chandrababu Naidu Government as the State Election Commissioner, and his tenure was supposed to end this March uneventful. But he became a talking point of Andhra Pradesh now.

Usually, Bureaucrats toe in line with the Ruling parties. They do not want their service record to get tainted and they do not want to stay forever in loop line posts (insignificant posts). Rarely do we see someone like Nimmagadda taking on the establishment.

Nimmagadda by no means is different from the above-said bureaucrats. He may not have done all this if not for that infamous press meet of CM Jagan Mohan Reddy. He may be doing all this he is doing now out of ego but his actions today underline the fact what the constitution has for the bureaucrats if they really wanted to work for the people or go by the rule book.

Just imagine a world where all bureaucrats go by rules and do not get muzzled by the brute majority of the elected Governments. We do remember someone like TN Seshan even today. The nation needs more of such a tribe. Leaving the reasons or intentions, Nimmagadda’s fight against the government will go down the history books. Forget about the future generations, someone like GK Dwivedi or Girija Shankar has so much to learn.
