No Andhra Laddu for Khairtabad Ganesh

The famous Khairathabad Ganesh used to have a jumbo laddu from Suruchi foods in Tapeswaram, Andhra Pradesh which used to sponsor this mega laddu at a free of cost. Breaking the tradition of years, Ganesh Utsav Committee decided to no longer take Laddu from them and will have a local vendor to prepare the gigantic laddu.

The Committee said the Jambo Laddu weighing around 6000 Kg is proving to be difficult for the committee to control the swelling crowd who gather every year to have ‘laddu prasadam’, amid tight police security on the immersion day. They say local vendors will now make 5000 Kg Laddu. The committee’s reason do not sound genuine as they could have asked Suruchi Foods to prepare smaller Laddu and the crowd problem is not due to the Laddu anyways.

The committee is on a look out for any sponsor for the laddu if there is one. Suruchi Foods Owner, Malli Babu said he was crestfallen at the decision. Suruchi foods is planning to get in touch with Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for a jumbo laddu at Amaravati, where the new secretariat is being set up.
