No Panchayat Elections in Amaravati Villages

The State Government seems to be trying to evade elections in the Panchayats of Amaravati Villages. The State Election Commissions said that elections are unlikely in those Panchayats as there are proposals to merge them into nearest Municipalities.

If the elections are not happening, the Government will be able to avoid embarrassment. Around 140 Panchayats where there are proposals to merge into nearest municipalities are unlikely to go to the elections, they say. The State Election Commission will give clarity on it while releasing the Notification.

“The Ruling Party always alleged that the Amaravati movement is the work a handful of people who are not the real farmers. The ministers even alleged that they were paid artists who were brought from other places. If that is the case, the Government should conduct elections here. The Government will be right if YSR Congress wins,” Amaravati Raithu Parirakshana Samiti says.

Gram Panchayat Elections are happening in two phases. First phase polling will happen on 27th and the second phase polling on the 29th. The results will be out on the same day.
