The GHMC made tall promises of immediate modernization of crematoriums and development of graveyards three months ago but the time was passed only in passing tenders but the works never began. It is said that 9.50 Crore is required for this purpose and with no GHMC panel in place, the approvals are not done. In the absence of the panel, authorities can only sanction projects only up to Rs 10 lakh unless government intervenes.
