Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu chaired a high-level review meeting on the state’s ambitious P4 (public-private-people partnership) initiative. He was joined by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, key officials, and party leaders.
During the meeting, Chandrababu emphasized that mentors should not be pressured into adopting golden families. “These families primarily need emotional support and small assistance. Let mentors step forward willingly,” he said.
Drawing parallels with global philanthropic efforts, he cited Bill Gates and the Vedanta Group as examples of effective CSR use. “We’ve gone a step ahead with P4. Our mission is zero poverty.”
Chandrababu reflected on past initiatives like Janmabhoomi and Sramadaan, which also faced criticism initially. “There will always be resistance. Some have the money but no intent, others have the intent but no time. We must tap into NRIs and industrialists for support,” he suggested.
As part of the initiative:
9.37 lakh families have been identified as golden families.
1.03 lakh mentors have been shortlisted.
AI-based surveys with 11 questions were conducted for 10 lakh families.
Top needs identified:
31% asked for job opportunities.
22% wanted better healthcare.
9% sought help to start small businesses.
Chandrababu revealed that some individuals have already come forward to adopt entire villages and districts, and shared his personal commitment: “I’ve adopted 250 families. My family and I are actively working through NTR Trust.”
