Now, You Can Post To The US Again

The Indian government has resumed postal services to the United States after a two-month suspension, bringing relief to senders across India. The suspension began in late August 2025 due to confusion over new US customs regulations.

The service resumed after a new system for upfront customs duty collection was finalised and clarity was achieved on the revised tax structure. This move restores a key connection for individuals and businesses during the festive season.

You can now send letters, parcels, and gifts to your friends and family in the US. The decision to restart services from October 15 came at just the right time, easing festive deliveries and cross-border communication.

The resumption also benefits MSMEs, artisans, small traders, and e-commerce exporters. Postal shipments attract no additional product-specific duties, unlike courier consignments. This cost advantage makes the postal network a more affordable and competitive logistics channel.

India isn’t alone in facing disruptions. Around 25 other countries had paused postal services to the US due to uncertainty over transit and customs procedures. With clarity restored, normal postal operations are expected to stabilise globally.
