
The accident took place at the Hindustan Shipyard in Vishakapatnam. At least six people are feared dead while some were also stuck underneath the mangled remains. The staff was said to be carrying out load testing and then, the crane all of sudden came crashing.
The death toll may increase, the sources say. The rescue efforts are going on. The injured are being shifted to the King George Hospital. The local minister of Vishakapatnam, Avanthi Srinivas is in touch with the company to take stock of the rescue operations.
The crane is said to be acquired recently. A trade union leader said the crane was overloaded and hence crumbled. He said the testing was carried out without safety measures
