One More Barrage Below Prakasam Barrage

Andhra Pradesh Government is mooting one more Barrage below Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada. The Barrage is being planned 12 Kilometers below Prakasam Barrage and the state government has sought the permission from the Center for this.

The state government also requested the Center to accord National Project Status to this new barrage. 1.7 TMC water will be stored due to this and the barrage will be 1.2 Kilometers wide and smart gates will be installed at Three and A Half Meters High.

The water thus stored will be used for Irrigation and Drinking Purpose. It will also be useful for the water needs of Amaravati. The barrage is being planned also to encourage Tourism. Prakasam Barrage is the last before Krishna Water going to Sea. This new barrage will prevent Water barrage. But since it is a new project, Telangana government will have to allow it.
