One farmer kills himself daily in Telangana

People of the newest state of the country may have achieved their dream of Telangana but they are still very far from the Bangaru Telangana goal. According to the stats of the state government at least one farmers kills himself in Telangana.

Between June 2nd 2014 and June 25th 2015, 409 farmers committed suicides in the state. Out of which, four are from the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s constituency, Gajwel. The actual numbers will be even high as state governments usually underreport these numbers.

Even after the death, these farmers have not found solace. As only 141 families of these farmers have received exgratia from the state government. Most of these farmers are in severe debts and saw no future with failing monsoon.
