One More Jagan Coterie IAS Shunted Out

When Chandrababu Naidu announced his team of officers last week, the inclusion of Gopalakrishna Dwivedi came as a significant surprise to many, including the TDP cadre. Dwivedi, an IAS officer, had previously kept CBN waiting for hours before the 2019 state elections, which had already created a contentious history between the two.

During the recent transfers, key senior IAS officers were given notable postings, and Dwivedi was among them. Initially, it was widely assumed that Dwivedi would be assigned to the General Administration Department (GAD) due to his close association with Jagan’s government.

However, in a surprising move, he was transferred from his position as Special Chief Secretary of the Labor Department. This decision was reconsidered, and later, CS Nirab Kumar Prasad issued an order on Monday night, relieving Dwivedi from the Labor Department and attaching him to the GAD.

Dwivedi’s close ties with the YSRCP have been a subject of criticism, particularly since the 2019 elections when he was the Chief Election Officer. The TDP has accused him of contributing to the YSRCP’s victory, with allegations of biased actions such as painting village secretariats and water tanks in YSRCP colors during his tenure as the Special Chief Secretary of the Panchayat Raj-Rural Development Department.

This history has led to skepticism and surprise within the TDP ranks about his inclusion in CBN’s team.
