During the event, Pawan Kalyan handed over insurance cheques worth ₹15 lakh each to 18 families of fishermen who lost their lives at sea. He recognised their struggles and said the government stands firmly with them.
He also ordered the PCB to conduct an audit on the pollution issue raised by fishermen in the Uppada region and asked for the report within a week. Pawan Kalyan promised that the government will resolve the problem within 100 days.
Fishermen had earlier complained about industrial pollution contaminating seawater, which reduced fish stocks and affected livelihoods along the coast. They urged the government to act quickly to curb marine pollution and sought ₹1.5 lakh compensation per family.
