Vijayawada will soon have its very own Lulu Mall. The site for the Mall has been identified near Pandit Nehru Bus Station or Governorpet-2 bus depot, spanning 5 acres.
Governorpet-2 bus depot will be replaced by a new bus depot at Gollapudi. It is known that Lulu Mall management has decided to open malls in Vizag and Vijayawada.
It will be investing Rs 1222 crore and provide jobs for 1500 people. The AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has been scouting for land.
APIIC identified the land parcel at Governorpet-2 bus depot and wrote a letter to APSRTC. It is said the government higher-ups are also requesting RTC to consider the proposal.
On Thursday, State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) held a meeting where clearances were given for Lulu Mall. Sources from RTC say the Governorpet-2 depot land will be given soon.
In one section of the depot, the government had built a park with scrap iron sculptures. This will also be given to Lulu Mall.
