After an endless wait, APEDCL had decided to disconnect power supply to mandal revenue offices, village secretariats and others, which are yet to clear power bills of over a year.
On June 1, the staff had disconnected the supply to nearly 25 mandal-level offices. Similarly, power is also disconnected to 40 other government offices across Ongole which are yet to clear dues worth Rs 60 crore.
Their connection was restored on the intervention of the district collector. Similar situations prevail in other districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Discoms in Andhra Pradesh are in severe financial distress and are in pressure to reduce the burden of pending dues.
But the government itself is being irresponsible.
