Liquor Scam Money Behind the Film ‘Spy’

According to a report by Eenadu, Raj Kasireddy (Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy) played a key role in the liquor scam that allegedly took place during the YSRCP government’s tenure in Andhra Pradesh. In an attempt to convert black money into white, he is said to have turned to film production.

Kasireddy established a production company called ED Entertainments and produced a pan-India film titled Spy, starring Nikhil Siddhartha.

The movie, which explored a fictional spy narrative around the mysterious disappearance of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, was released on June 29, 2023, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Kasireddy was also credited as the story writer in the film’s titles. Despite its high budget and wide release, the film failed at the box office.

As elections drew near and the political landscape shifted—especially after the YSRCP lost power—scrutiny intensified. With the liquor scam under deeper investigation, all upcoming film projects were abruptly paused, and Kasireddy went underground.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has gathered substantial information, including discrepancies between the officially declared budget and actual expenditure of Spy, the origin of the funds, cash transactions, and the film’s business details. The SIT is also examining the flow of money into other planned projects and the roles played by individuals at various levels in laundering these funds.

This unfolding investigation reveals a dramatic intersection of crime, politics, and cinema—more gripping than the movie at the center of it all.
