Rajagopal Reddy’s Liquor Politics

Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy is in the spotlight after announcing new restrictions for liquor shops in his Munugodu constituency. His unilateral decision has triggered strong reactions from local traders.

Reddy declared that liquor outlets should operate only between 4 PM and 9 PM. He also directed that there should be no permit rooms within Munugodu. According to him, these measures are meant for the welfare of the local people.

However, this move has caused unrest among liquor shop owners. At a time when the Telangana government has floated tenders for liquor sales, Reddy’s local restrictions have upset many businessmen in the industry.

The liquor lobby in Munugodu has since approached Telangana Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, seeking intervention. The Minister clarified that liquor policy will remain uniform across the state, and no constituency can have its own separate rules.

Meanwhile, growing dissatisfaction with Rajagopal Reddy’s approach has reportedly led to a complaint being sent to the Congress high command in Delhi. Party insiders suggest the leadership is closely monitoring the situation.
