First Ever High Profile Income Tax Raid Post Demonetization

In what can be termed as the first ever Income Tax Raid on a Senior IAS Officer after Demonetization, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary, Rama mohana Rao and his relatives houses were raided at a time by IT sleuths. Rama Mohana Rao’s name cropped up in the case of TTD member, Shekar Reddy as well.

Shekar Reddy was caught with some 100s of Crores and Kgs of Gold in IT raids. The houses of Rama Mohana Rao’s relatives in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Hyderabad are also being searched. Ram Mohan Rao is said to be trusted lieutenant of Jayalalithaa and he oversaw the state administration when Jayalalithaa was in the hospital for about 75 days.

Tamil Nadu leader of opposition, DMK’s Stalin calls the IT raid on Chief secretary “unprecedented”, says it has brought shame to Tamil Nadu. Chief Secretary is the Top Most in the state government bureaucracy. So, this raid has come as a total surprise.
