Guntur MP Rayapati Samba Siva Rao and his brother Srinivas joined Telugu Desam Party a short while ago. Chandra Babu Naidu invited them in to the party. Speaking on the occasion, Rayapati said, “Seemandhra is currently in shambles and Chandra Babu is the only leader capable of repairing it”.
Rayapati Samba Siva Rao is expected to contest for Narasaraopeta Parliamentary constituency from Telugu Desam Party. This move is expected to polarize Kamma votes for Telugu Desam totally in Guntur district. This will also be a death blow for Congress in Guntur district.
Rayapati is in Congress for more than 30 years and is a 5 time MP. He played a crucial role in blocking Kammas’ support to Telugu Desam Party in the district and is also a great loyalist to Gandhi family. His association with Congress party ended after Congress suspended him from the party for serving no confidence motion during the state bifurcation issue.
