Reliance Vies for Trademark of Operation Sindoor

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance is among the four contenders to get the trademark for Operation Sindoor, the name of the air strikes carried out by India on Wednesday in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

Barely hours after the strikes, entities are rushing to trademark the emotionally-charged name suggested by the Prime Minister. The operation was carried out to avenge the women who lost their husbands during the terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, J&K.

On May 7, four applications were filed under Class 41 of the Nice Classification that covers media, entertainment, education and cultural services. The applicants include Reliance Industries, Mumbai resident Mukesh Chetram Agarwal, retired Air Force Group Captain Kamal Singh Oberh and Delhi-based lawyer Alok Kothari. Each applicant mentioned ‘proposed to be used’, so they can use them for media or entertainment purposes according to a story in Economic Times.

The name resonated instantly with Indians indicating the valour, sacrifice and cultural sentiments. India carried out strikes on the terror bases of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.
