Resignations Cripple YSR Congress In Guntur

YS Jagan’s protest against Chandrababu Naidu’s 45-day rule has coincided with notable resignations from the YSRCP in Guntur district. Maddali Giri, a former Guntur West Assembly MLA, resigned from the YSRCP. Giri, who switched from the TDP to the YSRCP after being elected as a TDP MLA in the 2019 elections, expected to be the YSRCP candidate for the Guntur West Assembly constituency.

However, the party nominated Vidudala Rajini instead. Another significant resignation came from former Ponnur MLA Kilari Venkata Rosaiah, who also served as the YSRCP candidate for the Guntur Parliament. Rosaiah expressed frustration over the party’s appointments, lamenting that those who worked against the party were being favored.

He specifically mentioned Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, who was recommended for the position of Chairman of the Legislative Council but was not appointed even as the Leader of the Opposition. Rosaiah criticized the party for not utilizing Ummareddy’s experience.

The resignation of Kilaru Rosaiah was triggered by YS Jagan’s decision to appoint Lella Appireddy as the leader of the YSRCP in the Legislative Council. Rosaiah indirectly criticized the party’s preference for the Reddy community.

Despite internal discussions suggesting that Rosaiah might resign even if Ummareddy Venkateswarlu were appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, the appointment of Appireddy solidified his decision to leave the party.
