Generally, when there is VIP movement on the road, it eventually leads to a lot of traffic congestion and public backlash. The entire roadway is usually blocked for the VIP to pass through quickly. This applies for many cabinet ministers and chief ministers.
This issue became particularly relevant in the case of Telangana chief minister of Revanth Reddy, and he had been facing a lot of criticism on this aspect.
Over the last few months, there have been several public comments against the blockage of public roads for the CM convoy movement. This hit the pinnacle point last week when public started honking at the police officials who blocked the road for CM Revanth.
Finally, this matter has reached the chief minister, and he has apparently acted in a matter of a few hours. Reportedly, he asked the Telangana DGP not to block the public traffic movement for VIP passages.
In tune, with this, the chief minister’s convoy travelled along with the regular traffic along the Shamshabad route today. This is a direct reaction to the earlier criticism against Revanth.
It is good that Revanth is taking this public consensus into serious consideration and making adequate changes. But it is also equally important that this is a daily practice rather than just a mere momentary reaction to a particular piece of criticism.
