Revanth’s ‘Delhi Chalo’ vs. The Global City Dream

While IT Minister Sridhar Babu was in Mumbai yesterday at the NASSCOM GCC Summit pitching Hyderabad as a “Global Innovation Hub” to tech giants, CM Revanth Reddy was in Delhi doing the heavy lifting. The contrast is sharp: one is selling a futuristic vision, while the other is begging for the basic infrastructure to support it.

Revanth is playing a high-stakes game of “Infrastructure Federalism.” By officially taking full control of Metro Phase-I from L&T on May 1st, absorbing its debt and operations, he has removed the Centre’s biggest technical excuse for delaying Phase-II. He met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on May 6th to prove he is the leader who can resolve corporate exits and take full ownership of the city’s growth.

The “Global City” tag feels distant when the funding is still a question mark. Revanth is pushing for a 50:50 joint venture for the ₹38,595 crore Phase-II. If the Centre drags its feet, the corridors linking the Airport to the new “Bharat Future City” will remain just lines on a map. Without this expansion, Sridhar Babu’s “diversified ecosystem” pitch risks getting stuck in a permanent traffic jam at Jubilee Hills.
