Robbery In Indian Temple In Texas

In another untoward incident, the Indian community in Texas was in for a shock after hearing about burglars breaking into a Hindu temple. The thieves stole the donation box according to media reports.

The theft happened at Shri Omkarnath Temple located in Brazos Valley, Texas. The Brazos County Sheriff’s office is investigating the matter. The thieves entered the temple through a side window and they took the donation box and a safe where the temple kept its valuables, according to one board member.

A video of how the person walked into the temple and carted out the donation box has disturbed the Indian community. They say, it felt like an invasion of privacy. The priest and his wife living in an apartment behind the temple are safe and the community was informed in a gathering.

HinduPact, an advocacy collective in the US has asked the FBI to take up a thorough probe. Meanwhile, the Hindu American Foundation has demanded increased security for temples in the US as there have been a string of vandalism acts at temples.
