RTC Bifurcation Postponed!

Our readers are aware that APSRTC will be bifurcated and operated as two entities from 28th of this month. However now the bifurcation is postponed. According to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, the Governing Board of RTC should have the representation of both the states in population ratio before deciding the Bifurcation terms.

However there are only two Telangana members in the board of 14 members. The board should be now reconstituted with the required members and then the new board should make a resolution regarding the bifurcation terms.

Currently there is a stalemate between both the states. As AP is asking the assets and liabilities to be divided in population ratio while Telangana is demanding that the assets should be divided based on geographical location. Since most RTC assets are around Hyderabad, Telangana will walk away with major share.
