RTC Strike takes a very ugly turn!

The ongoing RTC employees unions strike is creating huge problems in both the states. Besides the troubles of passengers and looting of private transport operators, Andhra Pradesh EAMCET examination is taking place today. The government had appealed the unions to give up the strike at least for today so as not to trouble the students.

But unions were adamant not to cooperate and buses remained in depots. RTC management was running some 20% of the buses with the help of contract drivers. However the unions have obstructed those buses too. RTC MD Samba Siva Rao urged the unions to cooperate at least for today and reminded that they are troubling the people with out whom there is no corporation or the unions.

RTC employees unions are demanding 43% fitment on par with the government employees. But RTC management confirmed that they can give only 27% fitment that too by imposing 15% price hike on passengers. RTC in AP will have yearly burden of 880 Crore. From May 14 onwards, APSRTC and TSRTC are set to function as two separate entites in the two States.
