RTI: Jagan Govt Behind Dropping of Amaravati World Bank Loan

In what can be termed as a Stunning Development, it is revealed that the State Government intentionally dropped the World Bank funding Project for Amaravati. After the new government is formed, the Central Government has written twice to the State Government on June 26th and July 10th to spell their stand about this funding.

This is because a World Bank Panel is supposed to visit Amaravati to ratify the Allegations of forced Land Acquisition. But on the both the occasions, the State Government chose to be silent. In the letter on July 10th, the Union Government said the Proposal would be deemed dropped if the State Government do not respond to it and the same would be communicated to the World Bank.

Since the State Government did not respond, the Union Government informed the World Bank about dropping the Project on July 15th and on the same day, the Bank announced it officially. This will mean that the State Government is not on favour of continuing the Project but at the same time do not want to convey it in the Public for now.

The loan amounting to 300 Million Dollars is lost. Continuing its ambiguity on the issue, the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is continuing to create Confusion in the people by letting indifferent statements from Minister Botsa Satyanarayana. Interestingly, the State Government gave leaks to the media that it was Union Government’s decision to drop the Loan since it involves an investigation.
