Runa Mafi: Desperate Times Need Desperate Measures!

Reports are emerging that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will announce One Lakh Rupees of Raithu Runa Mafi in the Siddham meeting, Anantapur later today.

It looks like Jagan Mohan Reddy is very worried about the upcoming elections, which is a desperate measure to impress the public.

Only a few days ago, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “With utmost difficulty, we are spending 70,000 crores a year for the people. Chandrababu says he will give 1,26,000 Crores. People should think if this will happen. All these are false promises. People should realize”.

Now, the question is how Jagan will get funds for this big promise. We already know how Jagan exhausted all possible debt limits to fund the existing freebies.

Moreover, in the recently released Yatra 2 movie, there is a scene in which Jagan says he can not promise a loan waiver because there is no way it can be done.

The dialogue in the film goes like this – It can not be done and I can not promise something I can not do even if I lose.

In that film, the loss of the 2014 elections is attributed to Runa Mafi with this heroic dialogue.

There are around 50,000 farming families in the state. It will cost a bomb to the state exchequer.

Even a surplus-rich Telangana could not do the farm loan waiver during KCR’s tenure.

Chandrababu executed the promise partially between 2014 and 2019. Jagan only made the state finances worse after that.

So, if Jagan announces the scheme now, it will be obvious that he is desperate and not confident about winning the upcoming election.

If Jagan says he would create wealth to fund the promise, we will obviously have to laugh over it.
